The leading independent Australian family spirits distribution company Think Spirits has donated $100,000 to ensure the rescue and recovery of thousands of koalas who suffered from the catastrophic bushfires.
The Australian beverage distributor donated to the World Wide Fund for Nature WWF-Australia. The fund is collecting $30 million globally to ensure the koalas impacted by the fires can receive urgent and vital veterinary care on the ground, and at scale, across Australia. It’s estimated that more than 8 thousand koalas have perished in fires on the mid-north coast of NSW whilst Kangaroo Island in South Australia has lost over 50% of their koala population. The donation will help to provide food and water for those koalas who are starving in bushfire impacted regions.
“The last few months were difficult for many families here, in Australia. Happily, none of the Think Spirits family has directly suffered from the fire. Our hearts go out to everyone affected by these horrific and unprecedented bushfires. The loss of human life, wildlife, homes and bushland has been extremely difficult to comprehend,” said Patrick Borg, the Managing Director of Think Spirits. “This is a devastating blow for an iconic species already in decline, so it is an absolute honour to pledge $100,000 to WWF-Australia on behalf of Think Spirits and our parent company Amber Beverage Group,” said Patrick Borg.
Think Spirits was founded in 2004 and since 2018 is a part of Amber Beverage Group. The company is based in Sydney, Australia and has established itself as one of the leading independent distributors of premium spirit brands through its innovative approach to on premises and consumer marketing.
