Amber Beverage named Best Leading International Beverage Company of the Year

January 13, 2021

Amber Beverage Group (ABG) has been named Best Leading International Beverage Company of the Year 2020 in the Global 100 Annual Awards. In addition to the overall standards of excellence in operations and quality, the Award recognises the business results of ABG, which exceeded its 2019 performance despite the global pandemic, as well as the spirit of innovation developing new brands and markets.

For the 12th time this initiative recognises the achievements and expertise of companies and individuals operating to the highest standards across the globe and ABG is honoured to be the recipient of one of the top awards. The Global 100 Annual Awards, consisting of only 100 of the world’s leading firms and individuals, were announced in December 2020, after a selection process assessing various criteria across domestic and international markets, including complexity of work, strategic significance and ground-breaking innovation. Five nominees were selected in each category by the EMG Publishing group’s readers, in over 163 countries around the world, and Amber Beverage Group is proud and delighted to have been voted the winner in its category of leading beverage companies based in Luxembourg.

Amber Beverage Group Acting CEO, Jekaterina Stuģe, says, “We are a company driven by innovation and, despite the challenges of the past year, have been busy developing new products and finding extraordinary ways to reach our consumers. By streamlining our operations and finding efficiencies in the way we are working, we are relentlessly continuing to work on solutions and ideas for expanding our channels and routes to market. We are proud to have ended this extraordinary year on a high and I know that 2021 will bring us exciting opportunities which the team at ABG will do everything possible to maximise.”

In 2020, ABG expanded to include two new beverage distribution companies: Indie Brands in the UK, which specialises in the development of premium spirit brands particularly within the premium independent on- and off-trade channels, and Mountains Spirits, an ambitious distribution company in the heart of the Austrian Alps with high-quality brands from all over the world. Several new partnerships were formed with new importers of ABG core brands in the US: California-based Pacific Edge now are importing the one-of-a-kind KAH Tequila to the US market, Espiritus Group is importing one of the world’s oldest herbal bitters, Riga Black Balsam, to the US market. At the same time, one of the leading beverage distributors in the country, Bodegas La Negrita, has started introducing ABG core brands to the Mexican market.

2020 has been one of the busiest years for ABG’s production units, developing several new exquisite beverages and redesigning some of their best-known brands. With the resumption of can filling at one of its production facilities, in 2020 ABG entered the ready-to-drink (RTD) category and created several new beverages that meet current trends: at-home drinking and socially distanced outdoor consumption by offering portable, single-serve format drinks.

Amber Beverage Group’s products are found in millions of households across the globe. ABG is a leading beverage producer, distributor, logistics provider and retailer, with 600 brands spanning everything from premium vodka and sparkling wines to specialty Mexican tequilas. The company has grown from its original core production business established in 1900, to become a global company that unites over 2,000 employees in almost 20 companies across four continents.

Over the last seven years the Group has grown significantly, nearly doubling its business and expanding internationally through a series of acquisitions.
