Celebrate Margarita Day with Rooster Rojo Tequila: 22 February 2022

February 15, 2022

To salt or not to salt the rim of your glass? That is the key question on the forthcoming International Margarita Day on 22 02 2022. What isn't in question is the Tequila you use.  Pick up a bottle or two of some of Mexico's most beautifully made, premium spirits - Rooster Rojo Tequila. There are four Rooster Rojo varieties to crow about.

For those who thought Tequila is all about ‘slamming', this Tequila will convince you otherwise. This one is designed to sip and admire. Tequila as fine and authentic as this, created with 100% Blue Agave, is for savouring and appreciating.

The multi-award-winning Rooster Rojo range (38% ABV) includes four variants:

  • Blanco
  • Reposado
  • Añejo
  • Smoked Pineapple Tequila

If you haven't yet stocked Smoked Pineapple which only recently arrived in the UK, this variant is a delicacy you need to know about. It's a world first, delivering a truly innovative flavour profile. To create this innovation Rooster Rojo's Master Distiller experimented with various pineapples and different roast levels for over a year until they found the perfect level of smokiness and the best variety, Red Spanish Pineapples. This exceptional infusion is then blended with Rooster Rojo Añejo Tequila.

Some may ask - why a rooster? The brand's name and logo, the proud rooster, is a symbol of Mexico.

Using only 100% Blue Weber Agave, Rooster Rojo Tequila is produced at the base of the Volćan de Tequila, a UNESCO protected area in Mexico. Carefully crafted by the Fabrica de Tequilas Finos specialists and blended with water that is filtered through Mexican silver, Rooster Rojo is the first Tequila to use this technique, resulting in an authentic and high-quality spirit.

With the right ingredients, creating an elegant Margarita cocktail at home is easy. First decide whether to salt. Some say, don't salt the glass rim; instead add a tiny pinch of salt to the drink. Others like to salt the glass in which case, for best results, chill the glassware; run a fresh lime wedge around the rim; dip the top of the glass in salt (Pink Himalayan salt looks pretty but any salt of your choice is fine). If you don't know if guests like the salt aspect, just dip two thirds of the rim to leave a space. Now for the mix:

  • 45 ml Rooster Rojo Reposado or Rooster Rojo Smoked Pineapple
  • 20 ml Triple Sec e.g. Cointreau
  • 25 ml Freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 bar spoon of Agave nectar

Shake all the ingredients in a shaker half-filled with ice and strain carefully into your prepared glass.
