Since the global alcoholic beverage producer and distributor Amber Beverage Group (ABG) has established a new company ABG Real Estate, which specialises in real estate project development, designing of one of the largest high-shelf warehouses in Europe has been commenced. The company has contracted an area of 8.9 hectares not far from the Riga Port territory and is planning to build the most modern warehouse complex within the next two years.
“Already before the Covid-19 pandemic we made a decision to make substantial investments into creating an automated warehouse, considering the global development ambitions of Amber Beverage Group, as well as with the thought of maximising efficiency and optimising costs of logistics processes,” says Jekaterina Stuģe, Chief Financial and Operating Officer of Amber Beverage Group. “With the Covid-19 crisis arising, we have ascertained that we are moving in the right direction by making this decision, considering how important it is to ensure continuous customer service at times when a global pandemic is announced,” Jekaterina Stuģe continues.
“Our colleagues in Latvia provide logistics services to several companies related to ABG, shipping cargoes to more than 185 countries. The amount of services is currently growing more and more also for other companies in the alcoholic beverage industry, for example, transit provision services, customs warehouse services, logistics services, value-added services, staffing, and others,” Jekaterina Stuģe adds.
Along with creating fully automated warehouses, it is planned to combine the three current warehouses in Riga and increase the capacity up to 50'000 pallet spaces. ABG Real Estate warehouses will store products of well-known Latvijas balzams, popular vodka brand Stolichnaya products, as well as several third-party brands from all over the world. Logistics specialists of the ABG group are currently assessing all the possible warehouse flows together with high-profile companies from Germany that are fighting for the opportunity to implement this major project.
“Creating the new warehouses will let us to substantially reduce the time devoted to cargo handling, as well as to maximise the delivery speed of the required cargoes to our clients with minimum resources,” Jekaterina Stuģe says. It is planned to implement construction of the technologically most developed warehouse within two to almost three years, with ridgepole celebrations of the newly created warehouses planned in January 2023.
