Amber Beverage Group (ABG) owned Rooster Rojo® tequila has secured a listing with the UK’s biggest online grocery retailer, Ocado. The premium retailer stocked all SKU’s of Rooster Rojo tequila, including Rooster Rojo Blanco, Reposado and Añejo.
The agreement is being managed by the UK-based drinks distributor Cellar Trends and comes at an exciting time with Tequila outperforming the wider Spirits category, growing by 3% in volume and 6% in value in the UK (WSTA April 2020). Cellar Trends are delighted to have secured these listings with one of the UK’s fastest growing online retailers.
Commenting on the new agreement, Simon Thomas, ABG Managing Director UK and CEO of Cellar Trends, says, “We are incredibly excited to be working with Ocado right now. The Tequila category is booming and we have a fantastic opportunity to educate consumers not just on Rooster Rojo tequila but the category as a whole, on the Ocado platform.”

Its innovative and striking packaging will really appeal to the Ocado shopper and support the growing consumer interest in Tequila, particularly with more consumers than ever making their own cocktails and drinking at home.”
Rooster Rojo® tequila is produced in small batches in the town of Tequila in Mexico, using only 100% blue agave. Carefully crafted by the Fabrica de Tequilas Finos master distiller, Arturo Fuentes Cortes, and blended with water filtered through real Mexican silver, Rooster Rojo is the first tequila to use this technique, resulting in an authentic and high quality spirit.
The brand’s international recognition is rapidly gaining traction: in every international contest where the brand is entered, Rooster Rojo gets excellent results. The latest medals were received from some of the most prestigious global competitions including the Wine & Spirits Awards in China, CWSA, as well as the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
